Grades can serve as a communication tool between students and instructors and allow instructors to track the progress of students.

The Gradebook stores all information about student progress in the course, measuring both letter grades and course outcomes.

What is the Gradebook?

The Gradebook helps instructors easily input and distribute grades for students. Grades for each assignment can be calculated as points, percentages, complete or incomplete, pass or fail, GPA scale, and letter grades, and assignments can be organized into groups for weighting as well.

So I decided to buy one of those 3 line grade books but now I can't figure this out (I feel so silly) I hope I can describe my problem, maybe I am just not seeing what I should be seeing. So only 20 students fit on one page, so you are supposed to tear off the top part so that when you turn the page to students 21-40 you can still see the assignments/dates at the top. But does that mean that every 10 weeks (what fits on 2 pages) I have to rewrite all of the students names?? I didn't use a gradebook last year but did while student teaching but it was only a 1 line gradebook and you could tear off the sides to show the names when you turn the page. I am so confused because I can't add more than 20 students with having to rewrite the name every 10 weeks. Am I just missing something? Can you picture what I am talking about??? Maybe someone has the same one (whaley 3-line)?? Thanks so much

the Whaley 3-line gradebook. I had a program that came with it where you could enter the kids names and print them every 9 weeks. I didn't write mine in. Did you get the program with it? I hope you get it figured out!

I have the same gradebook and the same problem as you. I have more than 20 students, and unfortunately, I end up rewriting those names every 10 weeks. Ugh! It looks like to buy the program is an extra $15.

It still takes a little bit to get set up but it will be better in the long run...
I made a table on microsoft word, and typed all my students names in a column (one in each cell). The cell size needs to be 2 in. wide and .48 in. tall with borded/line size 1 1/2. Then I used double side tape to tape then printed list right over the top. Then I just have to tape the new list on every 10 weeks.
Better than buying the program. You could probably print them on label paper to avoid taping.

You will have to re-enter the names each 'quarter'. Whaley sells a program that allows you input the names once and print a new listing for each class, each new grading period; they used to carry labels, too. I use copy paper and adhere those to the grade book pages for each class. This is one reason people go for more digital means. I prefer the 2-line book because you can fit an entire class on one page.
