Following the recent sad passing of Nabeel Qureshi, I wanted to post this review of his first book. Utterly engaging and deeply insightful, his story is infused with infectious warmth and love. And because the audiobook is read by the author, the listener can enjoy moving seamlessly between english and arabic in a way most western readers couldn't

An excellent, inspirational book for everyone
I have just finished my second reading of this audiobook. I think everyone should read it. If you live around Muslims and wonder how to talk meaningfully with them about the Christian faith, this book will help. If you are Muslim, this story will challenge you. It is emotional and inspirational, with considerable detail about his intellectual and spiritual battles. Read and share Jesus with the M world.

Inspiring, painful, encouraging and educating
Nabeel is my new role model!
Well written, good read, I have waited to read book like this one,
Insightful and respectful toward Muslims and still sharp as a razorblade when it comes to difference among Christianity and Islam. Few could argue with such courage, love and ability and you hear and sense his pain while he is reading the story of his life.
Great book. God bless him and his family …

Love the Lessons on Faith and Culture
This book has good reason to be a best seller. It reads like a novel, you get to know the characters Nabeel and David and his family. I love that he uses his proper nouns Ubba and Ummi to talk about his parents, making me feel like more a part of his culture. He gives you a good knowledge of how a muslim family raised their children in the faith, gives good examples of culture clashes for kids of immigrants raised in America, he shares some visions and dreams God showed him as he sought to know him better. He shares the evidence he used to debate the Christian faith and what he uncovered about his muslim faith as he tried to build his case. His story is so honest and complete, I listened to the audiobook and chuckled at some friendly moments, I teared up in some emotional points, and I bookmarked so much to replay for my husband who says he doesn't like audiobooks. The timeline is nice too & it has good balance. It doesn't masticate over one issue for a long time then finally move on. It's paced like a novel--tells of one significant moment in his teen years, glazes over and states main points about the rest of the time then moves to the next big moment. It never wastes time with anything dull. Every word contributes to teaching about culture, Nabeel's life or his discovery of faith. I went back and tried to figure out where selections start and end, but he just let me run the whole paragraphs because he said he liked it. I really love this book. It's a quality work.
I think the author read the book & it sounded like a friend telling you his story. The reader did a great job.

Important and powerful
Seek first to understand...Hatred grows in ignorance and fear. Empathy is compassion. Thank you Nabeel for the risks you took in writing this book. I have a different perspective of my Muslim neighbors. You have lessened my fears and given me concrete ideas on how to lovingly interact.

Great book! Respectful to Muslims while honoring Jesus.
Great book. I really like the respectful approach and love for Muslims the author obviously has in his heart and demonstrates in his presentation. At the same time he doesn't hold back in his expression of the truth he has found in Jesus. I also like that the author himself does the reading.

OUTSTANDING True Story
This is an outstanding autobiography and personal testimony of Nabil Qureshi, wherein he shares his agonizing struggle to find and to serve the true Living God. It is also narrated by him, something that added a lot for me. What a compelling story. I learned so much and I am listening for the second time to the audiobook of this amazing true story.

Seeing the world through Muslim eyes
Qureshi had my attention from beginning to end. The agonizing struggle depicted in the opening pages set the stage for his lifelong journey of faith. Through the stories of Nabeel's childhood I could feel the affection he had for his family and the love of their traditions. The encounters with Christians had me either frustrated or thrilled; the debates we both informative and exciting and had me taking mental notes. (I'm sure I will listen to them many times.) His final decision to embrace the gospel had me cheering, and the sacrifices he had to make brought me to tears. Qureshi has done an excellent job of helping us to see the world through the eyes of a devout Muslim, and to understand the sacrifices one must risk to leave Islam and embrace the gospel. Every Christian with Muslim friends, neighbors, coworkers, or family could benefit from this book.

Valuable read.
Islam and its faith are not only a part of our past, but very much a part of our present and future. Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus was a good read, but also a good 'inform.' This is a powerful story of on man's conversion, but also a great side-note to understanding Muslim faith. Qureshi's conversational style makes for a blend of relaxed entertainment with valuable fodder for Christian growth.

A Must Read!
A powerful testimony of a devout Muslim seeking God's own heart. He found that Truth in Jesus Christ, the One True God.

A Must-Read!
Dr. Qureshi is a gifted writer who vulnerably, passionately, and methodically presents his autobiography in 'Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus'. I have to admit, listening to it meant I brought my mp3 player with me everywhere I could. I couldn't put it down! The Christian Audio version of the book is ready by Nabeel himself, which is such a pleasure to listen to! I was deeply touched by the telling of his loving, happy childhood and the obvious deep love and respect he has for his parents, and that they had for him. I was also deeply moved by his obvious love and devotion for his Muslim culture and upbringing.
His description of the Eastern mindset in contrast to the Western mindset, particularly for a first generation Westerner is extremely insightful and helpful. I feel like I've been able to peer through a window into his life to better understand where he and other Muslims are coming from. The human desire to trust and follow authority without question is beautifully described pertaining to the Eastern mindset; though I think it represents all human worldviews to one degree or another. It's just that in the West we pridefully claim that we submit to reason and logic, when in fact most people really submit to what the popular media, trusted people in our upbringing, etc. present as their interpretations of reason and logic.
The apologetics he walked through in each chapter are absolutely excellent. I need to reread this book several more times as I want to really absorb each aspect for my own effective witness.
I highly recommend this book to any Christian who is seeking to understand the Middle Eastern and Muslim worldview and how to better relate and witness to them. I would also be curious to know what devout Muslims who come from a similar background think of it.

Incredible story from a Muslim perspective.
An incredibly well written book from the perspective of a Muslim who was called by Christ. Very strong on apologetics. I'm learning more about Muslim texts, history, culture, divisions, tradition, and faith as well as a great journey to Christ.

Fabulous book, and I loved that it is read by the author.
One of the best books I have ever read. This book strengthened my faith and gave me a clearer understanding of what I believe and why through the eyes of a Muslim. I loved being able to see what life is like for a Muslim family in America and to see the beautiful family relationships and gain an appreciation for the traditions and faith of Muslims. The story of this young man's life is so compelling, so fun to read, so interesting and thought-provoking that this was a hard book to put down (or to stop listening to, in my case). I've recommended it to friends, and all are saying the same thing. I think God is using this book in many ways for His glory. I pray that many Christians would reach out to their Muslim neighbors with the love of Christ because of the testimony of this book. It gives me faith to believe that God can send people into the lives of those who are lost to bring them to Himself.

fantastic for Christians and Muslim seekers
This is a great book for both Christians who want to learn about what Muslim's believe. It goes thru the common barriers for Muslim's to come to faith. It also help the Christian understand the family dynamics in a Muslim family and how hard it is for a young Muslim to take up his cross and walk away from his families traditions. It is also great to share with your Muslim friends - when they have ears to hear. I hope it can be translated into many languages. I have lived among Mulsims overseas for the last 25 years. Thanks Nabeel,

Amazing Conversion Story
Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus by Nabeel Qureshi is the incredible, true conversion account of a devout Muslim becoming a Christian through a process of questioning his beliefs and searching for answers. It reveals a devout Muslim living in America as part of a loving, honourable family who starts to have doubts about his faith and the information that he has been given over his years of religious instruction. This leads to a quest to find the truth, which ends up drastically changing his life.
The initial chapters of the book focus on Islam, its culture, beliefs and pillars in a very compelling manner, as for many years this was his life. The next few chapters document his first doubts, questions that couldn't be answered and his initial interactions with his new Christian friend, David. The final act is his investigations into both Christianity and Islam, only to find that there is a very strong case for Christianity and a much weaker case for Islam. This lead to a very difficult and emotional conversion, resulting in a strained relationship with his family but a decision he doesn't regret at all.
I found this book to be riveting from start to finish, the look into a devout Muslim's life, his Muslim apologetics and the questioning of both Christianity and Islam. It is a book that shows a lot of intelligence, insight and thought, which is presented in an engaging manner. Possibly the best book I have listened to this year.
The narrator was the author of the book and he did it brilliantly with emphasis, tone and at an easy listening pace. One of the best author narrations I have heard.
This book is a very interesting as an autobiography and would make for a great casual read but it is also great for anyone interested in evangelism to Muslims or to gain a better understand of their culture and beliefs in regard to Christianity.

A gift to Western Christians like me
Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus by Nabeel Qureshi is a true gift of a book.
It gives on so many levels: it is at once a poignant conversion narrative, a rare look into the inner workings of Islam, and a vivid picture of apologetics working hand-in-hand with relationship to change a life. Qureshi himself is a man of deep passion and razor-sharp intellect. As a Western Christian with only a cursory knowledge of Islam, this book blessed me greatly.
Qureshi tells the story of growing up in America as the only son of a devout Muslim family. He begins the book claiming, “If my words seem Pro-Muslim, you are beginning to understand how much I loved Islam.” I was struck by just how powerful community and family are in shaping faith as I read his story. Qureshi’s parents are truly admirable people, and he very obviously admires them.
As Qureshi’s story unfolds we see him first repelled by Christianity, then indifferent to it, before finally being drawn into a years-long “battle of the faiths” with a good Christian friend. The struggle is epic and deeply personal, and Qureshi does an excellent job of capturing the nuances of conversation and feeling.
The book is not directly instructive on how to reach out to Muslims with the gospel, but it is nonetheless full of great insights in this area. I also found new, helpful insights in regards to honor/shame culture, East-West dynamics, law verse grace, Biblical apologetics, and even effective parenting practices. There is multi-faceted value in picking this book up.
The climax of Qureshi’s narrative had me riveted, but I don’t want to ruin it for you. Suffice to say, the hurt is deep and palatable, but so is the grace and new sense of mission—a true, resounding note of hope ends the book. Which brings us to the narration of the audiobook version: it is the highlight of the book, in my opinion. I’m so glad Qureshi chose to narrate the book himself. He brings genuine emotion to the stories, with the end in particular standing out as a tour-de-force of feeling. Also, on a practical level, it’s good to have him pronouncing the Arabic names and phrases.
Very highly recommended.

Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus by Nabeel Qureshi
Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus: A Devout Muslim Encounters Christianity by Nabeel Qureshi follows Nabeel’s journey in becoming a Christian. Through the book, Nabeel talks about his hesitations and questions about Christianity. He also shares his beliefs as a Muslim and offers insight into their way of life as well.
When I chose to review this title, I was not expecting such an interesting and informative book. Nabeel gave me a better understanding of the Islamic faith and also strengthened my Christian faith. I really appreciated his honesty and the information he provided.
Nabeel talked about his fighting becoming a Christian and how he challenged his Islamic faith as well as tested the Christian faith. He helped me understand the need to know what I believe and why. Nabeel also showed me the importance of building relationships with the people I want to witness to and the importance of making sure my life is proof of what I say I believe.
I always try to find books that are read by the author when choosing audiobooks to review and I was really happy that this was one of them. I really think I got more out of this book by Nabeel reading it, because I felt like he was telling me the story and I was not just reading about it.
I appreciate the amount of detail Nabeel went into. I found this to be beneficial to me and it really give me a deeper understanding of both the Islamic and Christian faiths.
I received a copy of this audiobook from the christianaudio Reviewers Program in exchange for my honest review.

Stories of searching and friendship
Nabeel Qureshi's story is the best story I have heard in a long time. I appreciate his honesty and courage in telling the story of his journey from Islam to Christ. However it is also a story of love and friendship. It is like an anthology but it is all one story written by the same author and all one piece.
It is the story of Nabeel, his family, his heritage and the story of friendship with a person who was a friend without an agenda. However all the stories come together in the life and conversion of Nabeel.
The book has certainly increased my understanding of Islam and reminded me of the different views under the name Islam. I come away from the book with a better idea of how to talk to someone with a different worldview and a reminder that change does not take place over night.
I have to appreciate the part that people like David Wood play in the lives of those around them. How many people come to faith because of a persistent friend?
As an American with a decidedly Western view of the world and my faith I received a reminder that God works in his own way, including visions and dreams, and not just through lectures, preaching and reading books.
The book was read by author with passion and with a proper pronunciation of the many Arabic words used.
I highly recommend this book and I will use it as a resource in the future, I received an audio download of the book from christianaudio.com with the understanding I would write a review.

You Can't Argue with a Story...
Nabeel Qureshi's story is powerful. Nabeel, who reads the book himself, carefully weaves a narrative that will touch and challenge you. His even narration and heartfelt emotion guides you through his life story, a basic understanding of Islamic beliefs and life, and the case for Christ. It is fitting Lee Strobel writes the forward, for this book is an apologetic and evangelistic book reaching out to Muslim's to see Christ; and to Christians to lovingly build relationships with Muslims.
To say this book was crafted with care is an understatement, this book is a work of art. It's not often I listen to a book of 7.4 hours in a few days. My wife overheard me listening to it and it was a race to see who finish the book first. To write such an engaging and winsome book is not easy. Few stories make me cry, but like me, you will fall in love with the Qureshi family.

Seeking Islam Finding Jesus

Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus is the true tale of Nabeel Qureshi's journey from being raised a devout Muslim to his conversion as a follower of Jesus.
I knew I was in trouble when I had only listened a few seconds. The dedication at the beginning of the book, read by the author himself, had me bawling like a baby. It is dedicated to his parents, who are still in the Muslim faith. It is so honoring and beautiful, you can't help but cry.
The entire book is read by Qureshi and it is read very well. His voice is clear and soothing; his accent is soft and mesmerizing. Obviously, the story is very personal to him and his emotions come through in his reading perfectly.
The story itself is also incredible. It was beautiful to soak in his loving childhood. It was very informative as to the beliefs of his family. I was unaware of how much disagreement about doctrine that there is within different Muslim beliefs and Qureshi walks through them carefully and respectfully. I found his descriptions of East vs. West thoughts about guilt/shame societies to be very illuminating. It truly is a completely different perspective and makes an incredible difference for anyone with the opportunity to be a witness to a Muslim.

A must read...
Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus is in some sense self-explanatory- the testimony of a devout Muslim who finds Christ. Nebeel’s life however, was not a dramatic one, unlike those of other Muslims from the East .
He grew up in Scotland and America, a son of living parents, and the member of an Islamic sect which eschewed violence and embraced pacifism.
What I personally found most compelling and interesting about the work was the way in which the author explores and reveals details of his culture, from family, to social expectations, and the nature of authority.
Not only is in the belief in Western ‘permissiveness’ which can cause a clash of civilisations, but many other difference which could prove an obstacle to understanding and witnessing. For instance, the Eastern concept of ‘authority’ is one that emphasis the learning and acceptance of authority figures, rather than personal enquiry. However, by bringing these to light, the author may help overcome these obstacles.
Also, in setting out his path to faith, the author takes a methodical approach, addressing particular questions, issues and Islamic teachings and theology in depth.
His was a logical approach, and as the author found the answer to his questions, and also tells the audience how and what these answers were.
Thus this is a book I would recommend for everyone, whether or not they know or witness to people in the Islamic faith. For those who do, I would certainly suggest passing this book onto them.
It is also recommended reading for its own sake to get to know more about the cultural and spiritual background which to a greater or lesser extent, has an influence over one sixth of the world’s population.

Compelling Faith Journey
I did enjoy listening to this excellent recording of Nabeel Qureshi's faith journey. I hadn't heard of him before which made it a very interesting listen. Although I have read other accounts of Muslims turning to Jesus, this is a far more in depth account, including lots of fascinating detail about the every day faith of devout Muslims, and how they can differ from each other. The author himself narrated this perfectly, bringing all his emotions whilst telling his story, especially with regard to his relationship with his close knit family. This made it quite an emotional experience for me and certainly kept my attention through out, wondering how everything would work out for the author. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone who has an interest in developing relationships with Muslims, as there is so much to learn and take away from it.
