Does anybody know how to change the 'owner name' on the 'shooting info' page for a file. The original owners name need to be changed to the present owners name. How? The camera is a 1Ds Mark II.

It's in the manual supplied as well as in the online manual. You will need EOS utility, so pick up the online manual while you are there dling eos utility anyway.

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

EOS Utility. Camera Settings. Camera and computer must be connected to each other.

Ah hah! I had the same problem the other day. Connect your camera to your computer via the firewire cable, not the USB cable (at least on the MkIIn). Open up EOSUtility and click on Camera Settings. You should be able to change it now. That's what I had to do.

Why not the USB? Some people don't have firewire on their PC.

The USB wouldn't work w/ the MkIIn. According to google, it's because I have another camera driver installed (40D). The 40D works w/ the USB and the MkIIn works with firewire.

IIRC all 1-series before 1dIII need to connect via firewire for full functionality between the camera and Canon software. USB is meant for direct printing, not PC connection. I bought a used 1dII last year which did not come with the original CDs. In addition to firewire harware support, I needed to download the TWAIN driver from Canon's website to get it to work.
I do not believe having 40D drivers installed would interfere with 1D software in any way. At the moment, I connect my 350D, 40D, 5D and 1DIII with no problem. I did not bother remving 1DII drivers after I sold it.
As a side note, I notice that the look and some behaviour of EOS Utility is dfferent depending on the camera connected: 40D and 1DIII are the same while 350D, 1DII and 5D are diferent.

Thanks for the information. Interesting. The reason I said my 40D uses the USB is that the 40D doesn't have firewire capability.

Thanks For getting me into this I have a Canon 400d and did not know how to put my name onto it until now, and it's real easy.....
You just connect the camera to your pc, turn the camera on and wait for the EOS Utility box to come up... if the EOS Utility box does not come up, go to
Start
All Programs
Canon Utilities
EOS Utility
then follow the instuctions below
Next go to the 3rd box down titled..... Camera settings/Remote shooting
Click on that and up pops a new box, to input your info go to the bottom right hand corner, there is a little icon ... tools ....click on that and there it is...... Owners name box click on that and you can input your details......
Hope this helps

Ah, my bad. Believe me, when I got my 1DII, I did wish it worked with USB because the firewire cable was missing, and my PC did not support firewire either. It would have saved the inconvenience and some money if USB worked. In addition, as you may be aware, accessing 'personal functions' is only through EOS Utility and via firewire. Canon merged personal functions and custom functions in the -III series. Thanks God for that!

Webcams help people all over the world communicate face to face from remote locations, but the images they produce are not of the best quality. Luckily, with the right software, it is possible to rig high-quality SLR cameras to act as webcams. Though SLRs, like the Canon Rebel T1i, are not designed to be used as webcams, the live view feed can be transferred to video chat software when connected to a computer. After the live feed from the camera is properly set up, it is ready for video chat on applications like Skype and Ustream.

Preparing the Camera

Step 1

Mount the camera on a tripod and chose a vantage point that properly displays you for video chat. Activate Live View Mode in the camera menu, and set the focus to manual by switching the 'A-F' switch on the lens to 'M.'

Step 2

Download and install the ExtraWebCam software from ExtraWebCam.com. Register the software with the provided serial number.

Step 3

Connect the camera using the USB cord and power it on. Wait for the ExtraWebCam software to start, or initiate it yourself by clicking the corresponding desktop icon.

Step 4

Click the 'Connect' check box in the ExtraWebCam window.

Step 5

Click 'Live Viewfinder' from the 'Videosource' drop-down menu. View the video feed in the left portion of the window.

Adjust camera settings like exposure compensation, white balance and aperture with the sliders in the right side of the window.

Using the T1a With Skype

Step 1

Open Skype and navigate to the Preferences section.

Eos utility 3

Step 2

Click the 'Video' option. Select 'ExtraWebCam' from the drop-down menu to the right of the Camera heading.

Exit Skype preferences, and the T1a is ready to be used as a webcam.

Using the T1a With Ustream

Step 1

Step 2

Double-click on one of the camera options at the bottom of the window to open the editing screen.

Step 3

Select the 'ExtraWebCam' option in the Show Video/Images section.

Close the Edit window, and Ustream is ready for webcam chat via the Canon T1a.
